About Pro Black Belt Academy
Where Character Is Built, One Black Belt at a Time
The Professional Black Belt Association was founded in 1982 by Master Buddy Hudson, a 9th Degree Black Belt recognized in the "Who's Who of Martial Artists" and one of the most respected figures in American martial arts. His vision was straightforward: build a network of academies that could deliver nationally certified, well-rounded martial arts instruction to students of all ages and backgrounds, without compromising on standards.
Today, PBBA academies operate across Texas and beyond, all sharing a common curriculum, a shared belt system, and a culture rooted in the belief that martial arts training builds more than physical skill. It builds character, discipline, and the kind of confidence that carries into every area of a student's life.
PBBA's curriculum draws from four core disciplines: Taekwondo, American Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, and Kickboxing. The blend is intentional. Taekwondo provides the technical foundation: precise striking, disciplined movement, and a structured belt progression built around real skill development. American Karate adds power and adaptability. Jiu-Jitsu introduces ground work and real-world self-defense application. Kickboxing builds conditioning and timing.
Together these disciplines give students a complete skill set rather than a narrow specialty. Whether your goal is fitness, competition, self-defense, or simply earning your black belt, the PBBA curriculum provides a clear, structured path to get there.
PBBA McKinney is led by Head Instructor Master William Ortez, a World Taekwondo Federation Certified Master who has been training since the age of three. With 30+ years of martial arts experience and 20+ years of professional teaching, Master Ortez is a New York and New Jersey State Champion who brings championship-level precision and a deep commitment to student development to every class.
Located on Eldorado Parkway in McKinney, across from the Apex Community Center, we serve students of all ages and experience levels throughout McKinney, Frisco, Allen, and Fairview. Whether your child needs structure and confidence, or you are an adult looking to get fit and learn real self-defense, PBBA McKinney is built to meet you where you are and take you further than you expected.
